After we flew home that following Monday, this past month has just flown by. Mine and Joe Don’s relationship has grown some and we’ve been hanging out as much as possible. It’s been difficult to find time though between my two jobs and the guys have been finishing up their album and finalizing plans for their “Still Feels Good Tour”. Speaking of the guys, I got to meet Jay and Gary for the first time. They were really sweet but Jay of course had to crack a joke about how short I look next to Joe Don. As if I already didn’t know that.
Work at Coyote Ugly has been especially strange. I think Joe Don might have let it be known that I can sing. I’ve been approached by label executives from Capitol and Arista Nashville, plus two times by Lyric Street. I’m kinda leaning towards Lyric Street for obvious reasons. And at gymnastics, a few of the gymnasts I coach have had college coaches come watch them practice. So I guess I’m not the only one who has been stressing out a little.

Monday July 23rd…
Ding Dong!
I ran from the living room to go answer the door wondering who would want me at 8 a.m. When I opened it I was pulled into a hug instantly and I knew exactly who it was…I didn’t need a face to identify this person.
“Hey baby!” Joe Don said as he gave me a kiss and walked in.
“Hi!” I replied, “And to what do I owe this pleasure? Considering that it’s before noon and you’re up, dressed, and here.
“You’re funny…are you up for a road trip?” he said back.
“To where?”
“That’s a secret. But it’s not that far.”
“I guess so…what should I pack?”
“Warm weather stuff…wait, you’re off work this week right.”
“Yeah…How many days am I packing for?”
“A week…”
“You are not making me go on the road with you guys are you?” I said as I walked into my room and pulled my suitcases out from under my bed.
Joe Don came up behind me and wrapped his arms around my waist.
“Yes…and you’re singing.” He whispered into my ear and kissed my cheek. With that he walked away, into the kitchen I presumed. He’s always stealing my food.
I figured out what to pack and when I was done I literally had to sit on my suitcase to get it closed. I rolled my suitcase into the living room. I heard the clanking of plates so I walked into the kitchen to investigate.
“What did you break now?” I said to Joe Don.
“Nothing…coffee?” he handed me a cup of steaming coffee.
“Thanks” I said as I took the cup and sat down at the table to read the paper. Joe Don sat down across form me. I glanced at him over my paper.
“What?” he said with a little laugh.
“You’re seriously not going to tell me where we’re going?”
“Nope.”
“Not even if I promise you something, say like a massage?”
”Tempting…but no.”
“Wait, aren’t your concerts in Okalahoma and Texas this weekend?”
“Yes…” he said with a smile.
“You’re making me go to Okalahoma!?” I yelled playfully, “As in Picher!”
Joe Don just smiled at me
“Ugh…I’m really gonna kill you now!”
“If you don’t wanna go then don’t go…”
“No…I’ll go.” I said, “But because you want me to.”
Joe Don stood up walked over to me.
“That’s the girl I know…” he said as he bent down and gave me a kiss. He walked over and grabbed my gigantic suitcase and little duffle bag. Then I heard him grab my car keys off the wall.
“Why are you taking my keys hun?” I asked from the kitchen.
“We’re taking your car…after all it’s a road trip, and we need a convertible for a road trip.”
“You have an SSR. The top folds down on that.”
“Yeah, but you’re car is a road trip icon.”
“Fine, but if you crash my car I’m gonna kill you.” I laughed.
With that I called Kati so she knew to come feed Pugie while I was gone.

“Yeah, he’s taking me to Oklahoma this week and then making go on the road with the guys…and I have to sing.”
“Oooo…this is gonna be an extremely fun week for you.” Kati said sarcastically.
“I know, but we’re leaving so I’m gonna let you go.”
“Alright, have fun, luv ya. Bye!”
“Bye!”
*~*~*~*~*
“I swear to God, you crash my car, you can buy me a new one!” I yelled at Joe Don while he was weaving through the traffic.
“Okay. No problem!”
“I forgot…you’re rich! You COULD by me a new car, say a Porsche.” I laughed making him laugh too.

WELCOME TO MIAMI, OKLAHOMA
That what the big arch sign said as we entered the small town just 5 miles from Picher.
“Hey this is where Keith Anderson is from! That’s so cool!” I laughed coming to that realization.
“Yes it is…so we can stop and get food or we can just get gas and wait to eat til we get to my parent’s house.” Joe Don said questionably.
“I vote we wait. I’m up for real southern cookin.”
“That’s my girl!” Joe Don laughed.
We pulled into one of the random gas stations and filled up. When Joe Don got in the car he started talking again.
“You ready to go?”
“Yeah, I guess so.” I replied.
“Hey, are you nervous?” he asked grabbing my hand.
“Meeting your family-no; but singing in front of 30,000 people is a different story.”
“It’s not like you haven’t done it before…you sang a Titan’s game like 2 years ago.”
“How do you know that!? I never told you that!” I said to him.
“No you didn’t tell me that, but I was at that game…and you sounded amazing” he said as we drove down the road.
“I’m gonna shut up now…”
“What at a loss for words babe?”
“Yes…”

“Alright…here we are.” Joe Don said as he went to grab our bags out of the trunk of the car.
I was just getting of my car when a lady, who I presumed to be Joe Don’s mother came running up and gave me a hug.
“You must be Alexa!” she said, “Joe Don never stops talking about you.” She added with a laugh as she escorted me inside.
